The installation designed for the 18th Quadriennale d'arte, titled The Game of Species (Il gioco delle specie, 2025), is composed of several elements—specifically, drawings on carta mozzarella (wrapping tissue paper) affixed to the wall and sculptures. Together, they testify to the significance of the concept of metamorphosis within the artist's production and research. As a process to which matter is constantly subjected, metamorphosis affects organic life just as much as social and anthropological constructs. Indeed, the very idea of belonging—particularly dear to Cibelli—is not to be understood as being rooted to a single, specific place, but rather as a continuous reaching out toward something, a desire to see oneself represented and, at the same time, to represent.

Our existence, after all, is never neutral.

It safeguards all the lives that preceded us and that, before us, opened themselves up to change.
